The Process >> Ordering

Your satisfaction is of utmost importance to me.

Taking the Photos

We will talk back and forth before committing to a portrait, so please ask me any and all questions you may have. This is a creative process—I want your ideas and need to know your pet’s personality so I can give you suggestions for the photo session.

I can’t stress enough the importance of working from quality photos of your pet. I typically recommend taking photos and measurements of the head and neck. I devote most of the space and energy to the close-up details and measuring the head of your pet will ensure the portrait can be close to life size which helps to make impact.

It is not cheaper to work smaller, as a matter of fact it is much harder and more costly because my style is to include considerable detail. I only recommend a smaller piece if space is limited and I can work in pencil so that the details can be included.

You can print out “Taking the Pictures” in order to have instructions handy when you take the photos. I want to facilitate this process for you as much as possible because I really want to create a great portrait of your pet.

Portrait of Boo Boo the cat When I produce a portrait I have one objective, for the viewer to have a powerful experience. It is my job to make sure we are not only creating a likeness but a quality piece of art. I put power in a portrait.

Proofing

Thanks to the digital age proofing your art work is relatively easy. I will photograph the piece and email you a high resolution photo in jpeg format, or if you do not have an email address, we can work a different way for you to proof the finished piece. At this point I am still able to make adjustments to the portrait based on our conversations. Once accepted, final payment is made and I begin the shipping process.

Prices

My portraits rarely include backgrounds and these prices are based on head and shoulders only. Backgrounds and full bodies are an option and pricing will be based on complexity.

Prices include Michigan Sales Tax.

Shipping with UPS will be based on each individual job and is usually about $25 within the United States.

Frame is not included.

Payment

Once we decide to work together I will prepare an agreement and ask you to sign it and send it back to me with a deposit, usually 30%. I am willing to take installments as we go and will be happy to discuss your needs.
